Madagascar fatherhood

The black fatherhood project is a collection of photos created by multimedia journalist, Walter Thompson-Hernandez, aimed at complicating how blackness and masculinity are perceived throughout the world. This series is a collaboration with filmmaker, Jordan Thierry, who directed a film, titled, The Black Fatherhood Project, in 2014. As part of the collaboration, Thompson-Hernandez spends time in a different country every year where he engages in experiential portraits focusing on black fatherhood. The images in this series were taken throughout the country of Madagascar in 2017 between the months of July and August.
